Experience

Several of the major corporations in the United States depend on RF Safety Solutions and Richard Strickland to help them maintain safe RF work environments.  His broad background in the field of RF safety helps him provide the "big picture" that most consultants cannot.  Richard maintains close working relationships with the industry leaders from the FCC, OSHA, and other industry experts so that his advice is always timely.  Today, he provides services to major corporations and other organizations that that desire to implement "industry best" practices in the area of RF radiation safety.

Richard Strickland was the Director of Business Development for Narda Safety Test Solutionsthe world’s leading supplier of RF safety measurement and monitoring products―for over ten years.  As director of the RF safety business at Narda, Mr. Strickland determined which products were developed and their performance characteristics.  He frequently functioned as program manager, as he did with the award-winning Nardalert XT RF personal monitor.   Mr. Strickland initiated the development of RF radiation training courses at Narda.   He worked closely with the top measurement experts in the country – Ric Tell, Jim Hatfield, and Ben Dawson – and the “father” of RF safety measurement technology, Ed Aslan.  This small group furthered the development of state-of-the-art measurement techniques and measurement technology.

While working for Narda and as an independent consultant, Mr. Strickland conducted courses ranging from basic employee awareness seminars to in-depth application specific courses.  Audiences have included environmental health and safety professionals, engineers, technicians, attorneys, communications industry professional consulting engineers (PEs), and senior managers of major corporations, government organizations, and professional groups. Mr. Strickland has taught more than eighty public and private seminars on RF radiation safety.    In-house course clients include the National Association of Broadcasters, National Public Radio, Sony, Motorola, NYNEX Mobile, ABC, ESPN, the U.S. Army, Bell Atlantic Mobile, Ameritech, Primeco, NORTEL, Texas Instruments, and Northrup-Grumman.  He has been both a featured speaker and a member of the radio frequency radiation panel at the National Association of Broadcasters, the Radio Club of America, and the International Wireless Conference and Exposition.

Earlier in his career, he spent more than ten years in the design and development of large radomes and antenna systems and more than eight years involved in high power amplifiers and oscillators.
